WESLACO – An experienced board-certified neurologist, Dr. Karylsa Liz Torres Gómez, is now providing general neurological care in Weslaco, including epilepsy management; management of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease; Parkinson’s disease management, and stroke management.

Dr. Torres Gómez recently opened K-Neurology Clinic, PA, located across the street from Knapp Medical Center, at 1402 E. 8th Street, Suite 1 in Weslaco. She also recently joined the medical staff of Knapp Medical Center.

Dr. Torres provides comprehensive general neurology services for a broad range of conditions, including epilepsy, migraine headaches, dementia (including Alzheimer’s disease), Parkinson's disease, and myasthenia gravis, among others. She is also highly experienced in EEG (electro-encephalogram) interpretation, as well as Botox administration to prevent chronic migraines.

Dr. Torres is also the author of a 148-page paperback book, “Navigating the Challenges of Caring for a Loved One with Dementia: A Dementia Caregiver Guide to Taking Care of an Alzheimer’s Patient”. Dr. Torres said the book is intended as a “practical and compassionate resource for families and caregivers facing the challenges of dementia.”

Dr. Torres added that she believes in the power of patient education -- and that she takes time to ensure that each patient and family is fully informed and supported.

Dr. Torres has been in practice in the Valley for more than five years, previously serving with the Valley Baptist Physician Network.

Dr. Torres earned her medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, graduating Magna Cum Laude (with great distinction). She then completed her Neurology Residency and served as Chief Resident, also at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine.

In addition, Dr. Torres pursued advanced training through a Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship at UT Health in San Antonio.

Dr. Torres actively volunteers with the Epilepsy Foundation of Central & South Texas, offering free clinics and medication support to underserved patients across the Rio Grande Valley.

“Her medical practice is deeply rooted in her Christian faith, which inspires her to treat each patient with empathy, integrity, and excellence -- always striving to serve others for the glory of God,” Ms. Garza added. “She is fully bilingual in English and Spanish and welcomes patients from all backgrounds to K-Neurology Clinic."
