Gladys Porter Zoo Hosts Annual Party for the Planet

Brownsville, Texas (March 27, 2025) — The Gladys Porter Zoo will be celebrating Earth Day with their annual event, Party for the Planet, on Saturday, April 5th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There will be various games and activities throughout Zoo grounds for guests to enjoy and learn about the many ways they can help preserve the planet.

Kids can participate in several fun activities, such as making their own seed bomb to toss in their backyard or playing a recycle relay race. Eco-exhibitors will also be on-site to educate the public about various ways to help native wildlife, especially pollinators.

“The Gladys Porter Zoo is gearing up for an incredible Earth Day bash during our Party for the Planet. Come join us for a day of fun as we discover how to conserve our beautiful planet, all while creating unforgettable memories with the whole family. I hope the public will make plans to visit the Zoo to explore all the exciting ways we can protect the Earth,” said Cynthia Garza Galvan, Marketing Director.

Party for the Planet also offers Scouts the opportunity to accomplish 90 to 100 percent of the requirements to earn a badge. Interested Girl and Boy Scouts must pre-register at gpz.org by April 2nd. Daisies will be able to earn their Outdoor Art Maker badge. Brownies will be able to earn their Outdoor Art Creator badge, and Juniors will have the opportunity to earn their Outdoor Art Explorer badge. Cadettes will be able to earn their Outdoor Art Apprentice badge; Seniors can earn their Outdoor Art Expert Badge, and Ambassadors can earn their Outdoor Art Master badge. Additionally, opportunities to fulfill the requirements for the Champions of Nature badge are available to all of the following Boy Scout levels: Lion, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos and Arrow of Light.
